What is Antivirus and Malware? 

Think of malware as digital germs. The word is short for "malicious software"—which just means software that wants to cause trouble. Just like you can catch a cold, your computer or phone can catch malware if you click a bad link or download an unsafe file. Malware includes things like computer viruses and spyware. Its main goal is to sneak into your device to steal your personal information, show you fake pop-up ads, or even break your computer. 

If malware is the germ, an antivirus is the medicine and the shield! It is a helpful program you put on your computer to keep it healthy. An antivirus works like a security guard standing at the front door of your device. It checks every file and program that tries to come inside. If it spots malware trying to sneak in, it blocks it. If a bad file is already hiding inside, the antivirus will find it and delete it.
